Virgin MaryThe cocktail version of this drink is called “Bloody Mary,” and the tale is that Fernand “Pete” Petiot created the drink in 1921 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. In the early 1920s, as Russians fled the Revolution and brought vodka to Paris, Petiot concocted the drink by blending these imported spirits with spices, lemon juice, and seasoning. The drink features a spicy, salty, and savory taste, especially highlighting tomato and hot sauce. It is commonly consumed in the mornings or afternoons as a remedy for hangovers. The Virgin Mary has almost the same taste profile with tomato as its base. It has a savory and spicy flavor with herbs and tangy notes.
